Campaign Story

Our Vision

The One Light Charity Foundation with the support of its partner companies will ensure that the value of donations is applied to Australian registered charities or causes, working together in the Townsville region.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 cash with a raffle fundraiser. T$200, 000 Trade Dollars in partnership with our Bartercard members.

Our Mission

Partnering with charities and projects in the Townsville area. Funding and enabling them to fulfil their causes by helping the Townsville community recover from the devastating aftermath of the flood.

Monsoon wreaks havoc in Townsville.

Since the monsoon began, more than one metre of rain has fallen, over half a metre of rain fell in just six hours.

This monsoon was unique and that was why it was causing so much damage.

Typically a monsoon trough might be stationary for a day or two and then head up or down the coast but this one has been exceptionally stagnant for the past week and has been dumping rain is pretty much the same areas.

CRISIS FAR FROM OVER

Emergency crews are stretched to the limit in flood-hit Townsville, with hundreds of people still waiting for help, more than 300 people remain in evacuation centres. Crocodiles have been spotted in suburban streets, and the water is teeming with snakes.

Schools and the airport are closed, but with days of more rain ahead, the crisis is far from over.

Our Updates and Gallery

Team NQ Contracting Services helped us with mould cleaning and painting.

We were able to donate cleaning products, paint,  furniture and white goods to the Townsville community.

I cannot Thank One Light Charity Foundation enough for all their Kind assistance they are giving me towards replacing some of my flood & water Damaged Home Contents.

Henry PetersenPensioner

His whole yard filled with water, the rain came through the roof. The ceilings and all the carpets got soaked.

Henry says “what I would really like is a single lounge chair to watch TV” With his broken leg he is sitting currently on a low chair and it really hurts his leg. “It got a bit wet but I dried it out as best as I could. I get so much joy helping others, and for the first time in my life, I am in need of a bit of help. With the high-cost cyclone/flood insurance in North Qld, so many pensioners simply cannot afford to pay. I am not alone in this situation.“ We donated and delivered a new recliner chair to Henry.

Our generous Donors donated towels and bedding to the flood victims.

Thank You!

Dale Rachow was the winner of the Romantic Get Away For Two in the Blue Mountains. Dale said that this was the first time he won a prize! So glad we were able to make that possible for you Dale.
