Campaign Story
Counselling and Wellbeing
This is an ongoing fundraising Campaign.
The negative cycles we get stuck in when we have poor emotional well-being can impact every aspect of our lives and make it hard to live the lives we want. It is especially true if we develop symptoms of depression or anxiety.
One Light and our Partners, Bartercard Australia and Qoin, are proud to sponsor and donate to charities committed to improving the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities.
Changing lives for more than 65 years, UnitingCare is committed to ensuring no person is left behind. Supporting the unwell, underprivileged and poor people through their hospitals, aged care facilities, and child and family support services under its many iconic household brands, including:
- Lifeline
- Bluecare
- ARCS
- The Wesley Hospital
- St Andrews War Memorial hospital
- St Stephens Hospital in Hervey Bay
- The Buderim Private hospital
Suicide is a tragedy – and an absolute crisis in our country. Every day, suicide takes another eight Australians from their loved ones. But just one call to Lifeline can keep a person alive.
Call Lifeline on 13 11 14
13 11 14 is a confidential telephone crisis support service available 24/7 from a landline, payphone or mobile. Anyone across Australia experiencing a personal crisis or thinking about suicide can contact Lifeline. Regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation, our trained volunteers are ready to listen and provide support and referrals.
Lifeline answers around 170,000 calls annually from Queenslanders needing crisis support and suicide prevention services.
We look forward to continuing to work with UnitingCare.

- Family and survivor support
- Raising awareness
- Medical costs
Our progress so far:
- We Raised T$9 401 for the Prince Charles Hospital.
- In 2017 One Light Charity raised T$3 200 for the National Breast cancer Foundation.
- One Light Charity donated a T$5,985 Fiji Family Holiday as the major prize for the Wear A Wig raffle at the Plus500 Brumbies vs Melbourne Rebels match. All proceeds were donated to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
Brain Cancer Mission
The Government announced the Australian Brain Cancer Mission – this was an incredible and pivotal moment in history. A relief for many that brought tears of joy. Sad that it has come too late for many people who have had their lives stripped from this hideous disease, but a relief to know that our voices are no longer falling on deaf ears.
This is an Australian initiative to lead the world in a $124 million mission to beat brain cancer, double survival rates in ten years, and improve patients’ quality of life.
Research
We made a Grant to the Dainere’s Rainbow Brain Tumour Research Fund. One hundred per cent of all funds raised go directly towards the vital and innovative children’s brain cancer research. This program is lead by Professor David Ziegler and his team at the Kids Cancer Centre in The Sydney Children’s Hospital. They are devotedly and tirelessly working towards:
- Improving the outcomes
- Implementing novel new treatments
- Investigating the basic biology and genetics of childhood brain tumours
- Decreasing treatment side effects
- The development of personalised medicine trials
- The translation of new treatment strategies
- Collaborating with leading international researchers
Family and Survivor Support
We made a Grant to Brain Tumour Alliance Australia, which was used for the print work of their information booklets. BTAA provides support in the form of services, resources and programs to brain tumour patients, their carers and families.
This is an ongoing Campaign. For more news and donations, please read the updates.

Radio Lollipop Golf Day
It was a great day and night on the 18th of September at Radio Lollipop’s celebration of friendship Golf Day at the Ramada Resort Kooralbyn Valley.
Radio Lollipop is an international charity founded in 1979, whose volunteers provide care, comfort, play and entertainment service for children and young people in hospitals throughout the UK, Australia, New Zealand, USA and South Africa.
One in four children is admitted to a hospital before reaching age 14. Though some patients are short-stay, many have a recurring need for care and return repeatedly to the hospital. Some who are terminally ill spend much of their short lives in hospital.Radio Lollipop gives young patients a voice and a choice during their stay. While they can´t say “no” to taking their medicine or receiving treatment, they can request their favourite songs, win prizes and hear their own voices on the radio. Those activities give youngsters a haven of normality in the hospital day which in other respects is strange, different and often scary.
One Light Charity believes in the healing power of play – providing smiles and laughter to children at a time when they need it most. We bought a travel package with the T$ donations and sponsored a prize to help raise funds for the fantastic support that Radio Lollipop is giving to young patients in hospitals.
